For the ladies...or dudes who like dressers

So I'm in the process of redoing this old awful old dresser that Kenny has had forever.
It is in our guest bedroom so I wanted to do something fun with it.
It was an awful wood dresser with gold ornate handles.
I painted it grey and added some yellow stripes and numbers with our wedding date.
(Side note that awesome yellow was from our free quart of paint at Ace Hardware last weekend)
I've painted it and I'm pretty happy with the colors but I can't decide if I should put knobs or handles or just leave it without anything.
This is where you come in.
Knobs, handles, or leave it bare...?

Progress as promised

The kitchen cabinets are done!
After two weekends of hard work step 1 of our kitchen update on the cheap is done.
The hours of sanding, painting, and distressing were worth it.
I am so happy with the results and love that Kenny and I were able to pull this off ourselves.
Everyone loves a good before and after so...
From this dreariness ( Ignore the Jack. Painting is stressful. )
To a pretty brighter shade
..and the awful bookcase
....to a less awful bookcase.
I am still not sure what I want to have on these shelves but I am sure Pinterest will lead me to something
There is still plenty to be done that we will be tackling in the next weeks but this big change is a great step in the right direction.
I hope everyone had a great weekend and all you creative family and friends feel free to give me some ideas on decorating :)

Guess what we did this weekend?

Lots and lots of painting.

A kitchen makeover is the first on our long list of house projects.

Unfortunately we can't get new appliances at this time but we are starting with taking our dark cabinets to a light bright color.

We spent about 20 hours sanding, priming, and painting and are close to finished with the top cabinets.

Although far from done the lighter color already makes me smile.

Kaleb even got in on some painting action.
The rest of the weekend was spent watching The Wire
(Yes we are 10 years behind but thanks to HBO Go Kenny and I are hooked on this show)

The weekends to come will be spent with more work on the kitchen and lots of beadboard.
Hope you all had a great weekend!
