Bye Bye July

How in the world is July almost over?

It has been a super fun super busy month.

Kenny is still playing roughneck.

It sucks but he makes manual labor look pretty good.

I spent a relaxing weekend in Houston visiting Lauren.

We drank, and ate, and swam, and drank and ate some more.

I got to meet her boyfriend and stepdog.

It's always nice to get out of town and see one of my favorite girls!

Just as great the next weekend my other favorite out of state girl was in Tulsa!

Since she's moved to South Carolina we're lucky to see each other once a year so it's always very exciting when she comes home for a visit.

Kaleb loves Casey!

He also loves baseball right now!

Since watching Sandlot he has become obsessed with my least favorite sport.

Regardless we braved the heat and took him to see a Drillers game.

We all had a blast and are so impressed with the stadium downtown.

Kaleb and I had a great weekend together passing the time until Kenny gets back home.

We ate a lot of food

After a fun filled weekend Monday was here and it was time to take the little guy to college.

He was so excited to go to a real college and take class.

The local community college is offering College for Kids this summer and they have so many cute classes.

Kaleb is particularly found of "Encounters of the Wild Kind"

Now it's time to finish up the work week.

Kenny gets home tonight and the work week will be half way over!

Also on the agenda this week:

Get used to this heat! I went jogging yesterday afternoon and about died!

The morning jogs are much more enjoyable but when Kenny is OOT they are not an option so I'll have to get used to the 95+ degree temps quickly.

Anyone with some good hot weather running tips send them my way!

All by myself, Don't want to be all by myself anymore

Ok, so technically I wasn't really all by myself but that's a really good song so...

With Kenny playing roughneck and Kaleb at Grandma & Papa's Terri decided to keep me company.

I arrived at her place were I was treated with dinner.

Yummy tacos and salad.

We split a bottle of this stuff (my favorite)

And checked out this flick.

Neither of us were a fan of this movie but we now feel we know Ms. Hathaway very well.

(I mean seriously; I would have been a work out fiend if I had to be naked that much in a movie)

We both wished they would have focused on the pharmaceutical industry a little more instead of jumping all over the place but I guess that's what documentaries are for.

After that I returned home all by my lonesome.

Since I can't entertain myself I was asleep early which was good so I could get in an early run.

Holy hell humidity. Even early in the morning I was sweating before I started.

After a really hot run it was time to head home and spend 30 air conditioned minutes with the

"Israeli Stud Muffin"

So Gilad is cheesy but he is always my fall back form of exercise.

(Really this dude is 56?!)

After some fuel (Amanda you will love these someday) it's time to clean and wait for Kaleb to come home. Maybe a day at the pool is in order.

New Obsession

Almost every morning I have the same breakfast.

Spinach smoothie, eggs, and Ezekiel toast.

Any thing else usually leaves me hungry an hour later.

That is until I found a recipe for protein powder pancakes.

Kaleb could eat pancakes for every meal so I though I would try these out to see if we could enjoy some pancakes together.

Topping them with my other(pricey) obsession. Seriously I didn't know what I missing until I splurged on this stuff.

They are delicious!

Now I have something new to eat with my spinach smoothie.

Kaleb eats about 5 so I think he approves of the new pancakes...still working on getting him to drink spinach though. Someday

Now off to enjoy the long weekend.

We checked out the Hangover last night and the rest of the weekend will be spent with family.

Terri's Last Fling

Over the weekend we celebrated Terri's imepending wedding with her last night out as a single lady.

Some ladies( and a couple of gentleman ) started the night out at my place with a lingerie shower.

They got a little melty but these are strawberry jello shots in a strawberry.

Love the internet help during this busy week!

Her main gift from the class was an awesome framed image using scriptures to spell her name.

Our other home room mom found it and I wish I had a photo of it because they are so cool.

While watching the class Thursday for her extended lunch I had the kids write their name on one side of a paper star and their dream job on the other.

I put all these "dreams" into a jar and attached a Panera gift card to it.

It was so cute and it will be neat to see which kids go on to do those jobs!

The year is wrapping up and it was so great to do these small tokens of appreciation for these great teachers!

Also cool this week; Kaleb got first place in his class for the Jog A Thon.

Easter this year was pretty standard.

There was the decorating of Easter eggs.

Never buy the kits with the tattoos for your eggs. They do not work and your child will be disappointed that you are left with plain Easter eggs.

Somehow we have a tradition of leaving a banana for his toy monkeys.

I'm not sure how this started but he expects it every year.

Over the weekend I was lucky enough to see Pete Yorn again in concert. He has been my favorite artist for 10 years now and one of my favorite musicians to see live.

He played at the Grenada Theater in Dallas which is the first place I saw him live way back in 2002.

At the time I was a teenager living in Tulsa. I had a huge crush on a boy in Norman (as Goins can attest to my constantly bringing him up).I don’t think I have ever been so excited as when this boy called me and invited me to go to Dallas with him to see him to see a Pete Yorn show. Although I was very excited I was also very nervous since we would be staying with his sister Shelley and her fiancé Jason. His sister and her fiancé were 24, lived in a big city, had real grown up jobs, and dressed way better than my friends and me ( all this pretty much still stands true ).

Despite the intimidation they were so nice to me ( this also never changed ) and I had a great time.That’s kind of how it all started…

Nine years later Shelley and Jason are married with two kids. Kenny and I are married with one.

We’re all a little older and a little calmer but we still had a great time.

The four of us were joined by Michael and Lindsay(Jason's sister) and I had a great time catching up with them over dinner.

Lindsay may have even found a new mustached love ;)

At the venue we had the best seats in the place and easy access to the bar…you know which is very important.

The show was fantastic! Ben Kweller opened and was great. I haven’t listened to much of his music over the last couple of years and forgot how talented he is.

Pete as always put on a great show. It was great to see him perform in that venue and reminisce about the good times I had there in the past as well as all the changes the years have brought.

Best part of the show; Pete and Ben performing Rock Crowd. That is my favorite song off Pete’s new album and it was fun to see the two guys perform the song together.

Side note for those of you who don’t know. The blog title is a lyric from Yorn’s song Crystal Village. Kenny and I had our first dance as a married couple to this song and it’s one of my favorites. I highly recommend checking this and all of his music out if you haven’t done so.

What the Stone's have been up to...

So spring has started and it's flying by!

As usual things have been super busy around here so here's a rundown of what the three of us have been up to.

Erin got married!

After much anticipation the Honan's tied the knot!

It was a fun filled weekend catching up with old friends and celebrating the groups newest married couple.

The wedding was gorgeous and we are so happy for Erin and Jon as they start the next phase of their life.

Kaleb started swimming!

He is back at Swim Tulsa and will hopefully be breaking state records in no time ;)

The Hicks Chicks came for Spring Break!

We love spending time with these lovely ladies and it was great to spend a full week with the girls.

It started with an early birthday dinner at Karen's (my mother in law).

Another kid turned the Big 3-0!

Erin hosted Jon's 30th birthday in Tulsa and it was a blast!

She made some cute decorations and delicious food for everyone to enjoy while playing poker.

That 30th birthday was followed up with another 30th birthday!

Laurie also had a March birthday and we celebrated at the awesome Blue Rose Cafe!

It was a short night for us but so fun and the food was great!

This busy spring isn't slowing down anytime soon and I'll make sure to keep you posted on the events.

This is what Kenny said to me as I was prepping our dinner of kale soup.
I don't think it was a compliment.

My boys were skeptical and who can blame them?

Green leaves cooked into a soup?

I had tried to get them to like kale the way I do.

It didn't happen raw in salads or with baked kale chips. It certainly didn't happen with kale smoothies.

I thought this soup could be my answer.

Granted the ingredient list was full of veggies.

About 10 cups of this green stuff.

Carrots, onions, garlic, and chicken stock made the base.

Add some cannellini beans, sausage, and parmesan and we were ready to go.

It was so good! Kaleb ate it and my dear husband even had seconds.

The Iphone pics don't do it justice but trust me it is delicious!

Victorious at last! The boys like kale ( at least in some forms ) and I have a great new way to eat some greens.

Ok enough of my excitement over vegetables. Here's Kaleb psyched to get in the water.

He started back up with his swimming lessons and I'm confident we'll have an Olympic swimmer in no time ;)

Things I'm loving...

Well in Tulsa we're pretty much in our second straight week of snow days.

It's really cold, the roads suck, and we're stuck indoors a lot.

This makes it easy to get bored and kind of blah (that is the scientific term).

In attempt to squelch that negativity here are things that aren't so bad.

Spending lots of time with this guy.

He's pretty good entertainment for these long afternoons

So today I could have went to work.

Or I could have taken care of the many errands I had to do.

Or I could have got my hair/nails done.

None of that sounded fun so it was a great day spent with my favorite people.

Afternoon drinks outside in the upper 60 degree weather. Awesome.

Finishing that awesomeness with happy hour with Kenny and Terri. Great.

Best yet obnoxious desserts with my boys.

A Snow Day,A Wedding Shower, and Utica Square

What a busy fun 3 day weekend we had!

Friday was another snow day for Kaleb which means an excuse to eat out for lunch!

The Stone trio met up with Leslie and Audrey to enjoy some mid day BrewBurger.

The icy parking lot didn't deter us from the delicious Bison and Salmon burgers made at the local joint.

After we fueled up the ladies headed to Reasors to get some groceries for an all important wedding shower!

Leslie hosted a wonderful shower at her home and I offered to help with the food.

We loaded up on some healthy food and I set home to bake some not so healthy treats for the party.

Cupcakes are my go to dessert since I find them cuter and easier to eat than cake.

Erin loves damask so of course the wrappers had to be in that print.

For favors I made my new obsession...cake balls!

So easy and so delicious.

Saturday afternoon Kenny and I headed to Owasso to get the food ready.

Leslie and John did a great job of making their home look perfect for the shower!

As soon as we arrived the four of us got busy making some party food!

We are lucky to have guys so willing to help out in the kitchen!

The shower was wonderful!

Leslie did such a great job of orchestrating the night and the couple got some fantastic gifts!

Sunday was a fun girl date at Williams Sonoma.

The last couple of weeks Megan and I have headed up to Williams Sonoma to watch their technique classes.

We learn a little, eat a little, and get a little discount so it's a win win!

After the class we walked around Utica Square and did some window shopping.

We ended up at Anthropologie and I have envisioned my perfect bohemian home.

As always I was smitten with everything in there.

This is my new dream bed.

Never mind Kenny thinks it looks like a meat locker.

It was a great weekend and now it's off to prepare for Erin's bachelorette party next weekend!

One of my goals this year is to use less and less processed food.

Tonight was homemade tomato basil soup ( made with you know real fresh tomatoes)

and grilled apple cheddar sandwiches on homemade bread.

And really it didn't suck

The Year so far...

So far 2011 has been pretty good.

Like most people I have my goals for the new year.

Mainly get back into a healthy routine.

This pretty much sums up my holiday eating. This is the dessert my family and I shared New Years Eve...it was a rocking party obviously.

The holidays found me going overboard on food and drink so I was ready to get veggies back into my life.

I kicked off the New Year with an oh so trendy cleanse. You know you don't eat carbs, dairy, or eggs and your basically hungry all the time. However the hardcore part of it is over and although that is not a lifestyle for me I am back into a rountine of having fruit and veggies make up the bulk of my meals.

This is a good thing.

My day is now starting with this...

And I feel much better. So veggies are here to stay.

Next up in the health goals will be getting back in working out mode.

The cold isn't helping my case but it's time.

Another positive part of the holidays being over is more free time on Fridays.

That means Friday mornings are back in Mrs. Adams class with Kaleb.

Those kids are a blast and I love being able to spend a couple of hours with them.

These have been the biggest undertaking of the month but Erin's wedding celebrations are coming up so we will be busy soon!

So this is Christmas...

It was another fantastic Christmas at Stone Household this year.

Kalebs excitement this year was contagious and he looked forward to a Santa visit more than ever.

The festivities kicked off Christmas Eve.

Kaleb and I got busy making a gingerbread house.

I have always have big plans for these houses but they never turn out as pretty as the box.

Kaleb loves it though and has to test the "icing glue" several times to make sure it's sticky enough.

After he was on a sugar high it was time to get ready for mass. Every year we go to the 5:00 PM Christmas Eve children’s mass. I love this mass and the cute kids dressed as angels and shepherds. Kaleb is always very good at Mass but this one proved difficult for him to concentrate. He could barely stay still because all he could think about was pizza and Santa

So after Mass we met up with Nana, Jon, and Michael for some yummy pizza.

We went to Savastano's which is our favorite pizza place.

They have the best Chicago style pizza!

After our bellies were full it was time to head home and prepare for the big guys visit.

Time to decorate some cookies and leave out the chocolate milk. (Kalebs request)

We were all exhausted so going to bed was no problem.

Kaleb was so great he slept in until 8 AM. That was a welcome surprise.

Once up he was in present mode!

Santa was very good to Kaleb this year...

Kaleb got us a couple of sweet gifts as well....

Apparently Kaleb thought this would be the perfect gift for me as soon as he saw it.

After working up an appetite opening gifts it was time for a French toast power breakfast.

Next up a trip to Grandma and Grandpas house.

When we arrived he was instantly drawn to a large present with his name on it.

He stared at that present until after lunch.

He was beyond excited to find a giant Lego set from my parents.

His aunts also got him some awesome gifts and he was one happy guy.

The day wasn't over though and we packed up the goodies and headed to Nana's house.

Nana had quite the surprise for Kaleb in the form of a bike!

Kaleb was so excited he went outside to ride right away!

After a great second lunch it was time to head home!

We had a great busy day.

Thanks to both of our parents for the great gifts and food this year!

30 Sucks

We celebrated Kenny's birthday a little early this year.

Kenny turns the big 30 this year and I wanted to make sure it was a special day.

His day started with lots of relaxation as he had a couple of hours getting some a massage and treatments at a local spa.

Kenny and his family went to dinner at the new Wolfgang Puck restaurant on Brookside while I set up the party.

I reserved a room at a local pub to enjoy our party.

McNellies is one of our favorite bars and I was glad to find a room available!

Thanks to the Lee's and Lauren for helping me set up and carrying a boom box through a crowded bar!

I had an 80's cassette theme and was lucky my parents still have some relics from that time!

Well it's official. Kenny has mastered Finance.

Fancy Business Masters of Business Hood

Saturday Kenny received his Masters of Finance from the University of Tulsa.

Everyone is so proud of him and how he worked so hard during these last couple of years.

He had great grades while obtaining his Masters and did a great job juggling the responsibilities of school and home.

What I learned during my first half

This past weekend I ~~ran~~ jogged my first half marathon.

I went with my sister in law Shelley who is a pro at these things by now.

It was a huge event!

22,000 runners got up at 5 am and braved the cold...to run 13.1 miles....and they paid.

Still wrapping my head around that one.

Really though it was fun and I learned a few things.

First...you should really train. I started running in the summer and was all about it...until getting up early on Saturday stopped being fun. So training didn't really happen. I had two long runs in the last 3 months and not nearly enough short runs. Luckily I'm in decent shape so I didn't hurt myself but next time I think a little more preparation is in order.

Secondly do not wait for the bathroom at the 7th mile. It will add 15 minutes to your time and you will be disgusted by what you see and smell.

Lastly do not put your Iphone in your sports bra while you listen to your tunes. Your home button may stop working as a result of sweating all over it.

Despite all this it was really nice and I remembered I do like to run.

Thanksgiving Recap.

It was super busy and super wonderful!

There was a feast full of pilgrims and Indians.

The boys and I headed to Philbrook for the Garden Glow. It was so pretty to see the museum gardens full of lights.

Halloween

Well for the first time in a couple of years we did not have Buzz Lightyear in our house on Halloween. This year we had a little Spiderman!

It was a busy Halloween weekend starting with the always fun "Books Alive" at his school on Friday. This is a day where the teachers dress up as a book character and rotate classrooms reading the story to the children. The kids always get a kick out of seeing the teachers dressed up.

(An awesome home room mom may have brought them Krispie Kreme....)

Next up was pumpkin carving time.

Kenny took the reigns this year and drew a free hand Jack O' Lantern.

All done

Lastly of course was Trick or Treating.

Little Spiderman cleaned up and who knows how long it will take to eat all of this candy.

He had a great time in my parents neighborhood and saw a few scary monsters along the way!

Fall Break Friday

I love Fridays. I don't have to work and today Kaleb was out of school!

Terri and I started the day with a nice short run. The weather has been perfect for running albeit really dark at 6:30!

After the run Kenny got to spend the day team buidling at Gilcrease. I'm pretty jealous of the day at Gilcrease...not so much of the team building exercise.

Since Kenny was gone for the day Kaleb and I got to spend the day doing whatever he wanted.

It was so good having a relaxed morning with just the two of us.

Why can't he be 3 again and stay home with me every day?

I enjoy seeing this in the morning way more than an office.

Random post for today. Lunch was awesome. I need more mid day carbs in my life.

Usually I have a bowl of veggies and protein...which is delicious but this double serving of noodles was much better.

So what if I had to tell my coworkers I was running a marathon after work?

Speaking of marathons the family is registered for the Tulsa Run!

In a little over a week I will have my first race.

I'm a little unprepared....a little bit of foot issues and a lot of laziness issues but I'm feeling optimistic.

Even with my dumb faith that adrenaline will pick up the slack of training I will gladly accept any words of wisdom :)

What a beautiful Saturday we had in Oklahoma today.

Perfect weather for some Flag Football.

Kaleb had his best game yet and loves having his dad as a sideline coach.

After Kaleb's football game he wanted to stay with my Mom and Dad so Kenny and I decided to make a day of it.

We saw Wallstreet 2 which surprisingly was pretty good.

Then we headed downtown to Yokozuna for some sushi and pad Thai.

Kenny's fortune cookie had an interesting message.

After dinner we hit up a new bar downtown. Max's Retro pub is an 80's themed bar full of awesome 80's arcade games. We enjoyed some Mortal Kombat and Ski ball while the Goonies played in the background.

This was definitely hipster heaven but I loved the randomness of having Thundercats playing on old school TVs above the bar.

It was a great weekend now we're just ready to knock out another work week.

Oh Fall...let me count the ways

It's officially fall and I am beyond ready.

Although I love the relaxed vibe of summer I am always ready for fall and all it brings.

Some things to look forward to...

Football season! Most importantly Kaleb's football season! It has been fun to watch and Kaleb actually want to go to practice. The kids are so cute to watch and I'm all for the exercise.

We went to Norman this past weekend to meet up with some friends and watch the game. It was a close one but the Sooners pulled out the win. Saturdays in the summer can seem so pointless (since everyday is kind of like the weekend) but now that it's fall there is always a game to go to or one to watch.

Fall produce...it's so pretty! Summer berries are great but my boys won't eat them so this weekend was a treat to stock up one some yummy organic fall fruits.

I have been putting this fruit in everything. Chicken and peach quesadilla, apple and PB sandwiches, and best of all pear and Brie crostini.

Hello, cardigans! Anyone who knows me at all knows my affinity for the button up sweaters. This year is no different and even though it's still in the 90's I have fully prepared by stocking up on some new cardi's.

I have my eye on this cashmere number unfortunately Tory is out of my price range this fall.

And lastly but I suppose most obviously cooler weather. Even with the temps in the 80's in the mornings my running times have greatly improved. The cooler weather makes such a difference and I think a few more weeks of running in cooler temps I will definently be ready for the Tulsa Run. My goal to keep up with Shelley :)

The month came and went with plenty of fun and super hot weather.

First Day of School! Kaleb started round 2 of Kindergarten this month and I am already confident it was the right decision to keep him back. He seems to be getting along better with kids closer to his age is very happy to have Mrs. Adams as a teacher again. His classmates seem wonderful and I am confident he will thrive this year.

With football season drawing near it was time for Kenny and his boys to have Fantasy Football weekend. This allowed me another Mommy Son movie night!

This time we watched Hook. I hadn't seen this movie in a long time and forgot it was kind of intense! Kaleb loved it and I love watching movies from when I was younger.

Kaleb's Birthday

I can't believe our guy is 6 years old. Time really has flown by but it has been the best 6 years of our lives. Kaleb had very specific instructions for his day starting with me waking him up by saying "Wake up birthday boy" in a gentle voice. I am assuming he has seen this somewhere and it resonated with him. The breakfast of his choice was of course a treat he rarely gets.

We had a small family party this weekend before his big party in a couple of weeks.

It was great to get our familes together and celebrate the little guy.

Per usual Kaleb cleaned up in the present department this year. He spent the rest of the weekend building his many Toy Story 3 Lego sets.

Mid-Week Girls Night

Tonight was a rare boy-less night for me.

Kenny is in Dallas to spend time with his siblings and to watch some Yankee baseball.

Kaleb is staying with Granddad Stone so I had to invite the Burke girls over to keep me company.

Girls nights are a rarity for me so I try to make them as girly as possible.

Riley's 1!

This past weekend was a fun filled weekend to Norman for our godson's 1st Birthday!

Little Riley is growing up so fast and Kenny and I are so proud of Erin & Jon for raising such a great little boy!

The day started off bright and early with a nice 6 mile run. I have joined with Laurie in training for my first half marathon. The training is going great so far but in the next couple of months I am hoping to improve my time.

After our run Derek headed over for a big breakfast before we hit the road.

Apparently the combo of big breakfast and the road had this effect on Kaleb.

Erin did a great job putting together a cute party for Riley! There was yummy food and cute decorations!

Kaleb and I made a circus themed basket to put Riley's gifts in. It should be of no surprise that one of them was a baby Buzz Lightyear.

Erin and Jon were nice enough to give Kaleb his birthday presents early. He was psyched to get some new Toy Story toys!

After the party we took Kaleb to the Sam Noble Museum. Kaleb loved seeing the dinosaur bones and playing with any interactive exhibits.

After a long fun day the kiddos headed to bed and the Honans invited a few friends over.

It was nice to see some of the old Norman crew. Some of those people I hadn't seen in years!

It was a great weekend and we're so happy to have such a great godson and friends.

We look forward to many more birthday parties for the little guy!

Vegas!

After our fun 4th of July weekend it was time to get busy wrapping up some obligations and getting ready for vacation!

Fun things to wrap up...a diaper cake for Goins.

Not so much fun. Trying to get lots of hours in at work before leaving town and packing.

But once everything was order we were off to Vegas!

We stayed at Aria which is a newer hotel in the City Center.

Thanks to Kenny's sweet talking and a $20 we were upgraded to a sweet room that is by far the nicest hotel room I've ever had.

I won't bore you with the millions of room pictures I took but here was our night view of the strip.

Our first night in town we had some delicious veal sliders (sorry Steph!) before heading to see Ka.

Just like all the cirque du soleil shows it was awesome. I am always amazed at the athletic ability of these performers and the stories they are able to tell. No pictures allowed during the show but we had some pretty sweet seats.

Friday was a full day spent on the strip window shopping (dreaming by the Gucci store) and some cheap gambling.

Kenny had been dreaming of some NY style deli food so we stopped by Carnegie Deli to split a huge sandwich.

That evening we saw the Elvis Cirque Du Soleil which was absolutely amazing. Kenny and I both agreed it was the best show we had seen in Vegas. It was honestly a moving production of an amazing life. I would love to see this one again!

I am sure one had something to do with the enjoyment of the other but I thought those fries were the best thing I had ever eaten.

4th of July

We had a great 4th of July weekend this year.

Erin & Jon were in town from Norman and it was great spending a night at Baker's Street catching up with them. They are in the midst of wedding planning and it sounds like it will be a beautiful night. I can't wait!

It's finally here...

Well the awaited day finally came. After over a year of anticipation Toy Story 3 finally arrived in theaters. It was like Christmas morning at the Stone household. Kaleb could hardly sleep the night before and that Friday morning came bursting into our room screaming "It's Toy Story Day". We arrived for the first show of the day and thank goodness we purchased our tickets in advance.

There was a crazy line waiting to buy tickets to the show!

The movie was of course adorable. Pixar doesn't dissapoint. Although I will warn you; a tissue may be necessary. For me in particular the movie hit home showing "old footage" of Andy playing with the beloved Buzz and Woody dolls. It of course made me think of Kaleb and his obsession with these characters. It reminded me that just like Andy Kaleb will too grow up and outgrow these characters that have been such a huge part of his childhood. Needless to say I cried like a baby but I highly recommend the movie.

Hicks Girl Come to Town

All 3 Hicks ladies packed up and headed to T-town for the week. It was so great to see these 3 ladies and see how much those little girls have grown.

Carson is even more of a personality and literally running everywhere! I forget how much toddlers change over the course of a couple of months and she is now talking up a storm.

She gets more adorable every time we see here and Kenny and I are smitten with her picture face ( smile...smirk...scowl??)

Caroline is such a good baby and is about the longest leanest little girl I've ever seen. She'll outgrow Carson soon!

Well the day finally came when Mr. Beef settled down and had a baby.

As most of you know Beef is one of Kenny's best friends and a constant source of entertainment all around. We are so glad he found a great girl to marry and that they had an adorable little boy.

The 3 of us headed out to the country to pay a visit to the Tinkler family and Kaleb was psyched to check out some farm animals!

He loved seeing baby Aden and spending time with Clif & Laken's nephew Matthew.

The couple took us out to a great lunch and then all the boys headed out to feed some cows!

Kaleb was disgusted by the cow tongues but otherwise he was very excited to see cows in real life.

And of course here are plenty of pictures of the adorable Aden.

We are so happy for Beef and his growing family and can't wait to see this precious little boy again!

Teacher Appreciation Week

This week was Teacher's Appreciation Week at Kaleb's school and it was a great opportunity to show Kaleb's teacher how much the students care about her.

It was a fun week where the students got to give small tokens of appreciation to Mrs. Adams.

Mrs. Adams has been a wonderful teacher to all the students and Kenny and I really appreciate how much Kaleb has grown while in her class....and it looks like we'll be looking forward to more growth with her next year!

After some soul searching and lots of talking we have decided to keep Kaleb in kindergarten another year. Even though he is doing fine academically we are worried about him being so much younger than the other students. All though the differences aren't huge at this point we are worried that has he gets older the maturity gap will grow. Even though it was a hard decision we think this growth year will be best for him in the long run!

Today capped off TAW week and it was a great morning. We brought the class Krispie Kreme..their second day of donuts for the week! (Thanks Ms. Jayden for Wed. donuts)

Mrs. Adams got to open her gifts from the class and they were very excited to show off thier work!

Each student drew a picture of why Mrs. Adams was a hero to them.

I made a cover and put them in a book for her to keep.

And finally I made this shadow box for her to keep in her classroom. I saw this idea on a blog and loved it! It turned out to be a little more difficult than I anticipated but in the end it was pretty cute!

It was a great week and we feel blessed that Kaleb has had such a wonderful class this year. It has been great being the home room mom and getting to know all these wonderful kids.

Baby Caroline!

Baby Caroline is finally here! We got to visit the Hick's family this weekend and see the newest addition to the family. Caroline is precious of course and Shelley is doing great! She is one busy lady and luckily Kenny's mom has been staying with her this week to help her adjust to two kiddos.

Carson is all of a sudden a toddler! She is running around and saying several words. We had a great visit and Kaleb loved spending time with his little cousins. Both little ladies are too cute for words so I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Those are 3 adorable kids! It was great to see the family and how well they are adjusting to their ever growing family. Shelley of course looks great and is a natural juggling the girls.

We also got to spend a little bit of time with Michael. It was great to catch up with him and hear all about his upcoming semester of grad school at SMU. Jason and Kenny both have plenty of insight to dealing with the challenges of grad school and I know he will be very successful as a SMU Mustang!

Between the business with the girls Nana was nice enough to take Kaleb to heaven...otherwise known as the Lego Store.

To say he had fun would be an understatement and he finally received the final Lego Set to complete his Toy Story Lego collection.

Houston!

I was lucky enough to take a weekend trip to Houston to visit Ms. Lauren.

Lauren has been a best friend of mine for a few years and she has been living in Houston for a little over a year now. It was great to see where she is living and explore a new city. The weekend was filled with good food, good drinks, and good conversation. It was great to catch up and see how well she is doing in the big city! Surprisingly Houston is really nice (at least where she lives).

Thursday night we had a great dinner and then went out for some drinks. I got to meet some of her friends and it was a great night reliving ladies nights at OU. A favorite past time of our Norman days.

Friday was a great day seeing some of the Houston sights. After a power breakfast of Mexican food and margaritas it was off to a house covered in beer cans. A house seriously covered with beer cans. I can't imagine the time it took to do or why anyone would do this but it was really cool to look at!

Next up was a brewery tour at Saint Arnolds. It was a really neat place and the beer was delicious. It was my first brewery tour and actually pretty informative!

I had so much fun and can't wait to visit again! Thanks for having me over Lauren!

Easter

We had a very fun Easter this year. It was filled the usual dying Easter eggs, Easter egg hunt, and family. Saturday night we went to Kenny's mom and had a great dinner. Kaleb was happy to get an Easter basket a day earlier.

My parents hid some eggs for Kaleb in the backyard and he had a great time finding all the eggs. My Dad is an expert egg hider but luckily I remembered some of his tricks to help the kid out :)

The Month of love...

It was a busy one as always around here but February held some fun events!

Valentines Day of course...although I wouldn't say it was a romantic one we had a great time taking Kaleb to Disney Live! He was glad to spend a little time with Audrey and was so excited to see the Toy Story gang perform!

It was a perfect day and so much better than a traditional Valentines Day!

Next up was celebrating my parents 28th wedding anniversary. We had a great dinner we are all happy that they are so happy after all these years!

Lastly February was the start of Kaleb's first soccer season.

Although I don't think he's the next Pele he has a great time with the other kids and I am sure eventually his interest in soccer will pick up. For now it's playing with his teammates and shooting the opponents with his imaginary Buzz Lightyear laser.

Christmas this year was one to remember!

We had Kaleb's first White Christmas and then some.

Traveling the streets of Tulsa Christmas Eve was reminiscent of a zombie movie. Abandoned cars were everywhere and it was quite an adventure to make it home for Santa's visit.

Finally Christmas morning came and Kaleb was so excited to finally open his presents.

As usual Santa and family were very kind to Kaleb....

After opening presents at home and having our wonderful maintenance crew shovel our car out we headed to Grandma's and Papa's.

It was a pretty lowkey Halloween here. Kaleb had a little bug so we just took him trick or treating in Papa & Grandmas neighborhood. Kaleb had a blast despite being a little under the weather.

He wanted to be Buzz Lightyear again and had fun running around in his suit.

After trick or treating Kaleb stayed with Papa & Grandma and Kenny and I went out to watch some football.

Kenny decided to dress up sexy for the night...apparently I wasn't impressed.

All in all it was a great night. Kenny's Yankees won, OU won, and OSU lost. Hopefully now the mouthy Cowboy fans will be silent.

This fall we've had a couple of fun visits from good friends.

First up was Ms. Lauren in town from Houston. I loved getting to spend some time with one

of my best friends that I don't get to see enough of.

We always have a great time together and it was good to catch up.

She is doing great in Houston and even though I miss her I'm so happy

she is doing so well in the big city!

Next up we had Erin, Jon, and the adorable little Riley! Kaleb loved spending time with Riley who is already 3 months old! He was so good at our house and we loved having a baby around!

The weekend was spent watching football and taking the kids to the pumpkin patch.

We had great time and the kids looked adorable!

Fall Is Here!

Fall has just begun and it's already shaping up to a very busy one.

The highlight of course has been Megan's Wedding!

The wedding was gorgeous and Megan and Patrick have never looked happier!

I am so happy for my little sister and our new brother in law. He is a great guy and we're happy to have a new addition to our family!

As always it was great to see some family that we rarely get to see. Hopefully it won't be too long before we see everyone again.

With the excitement of the wedding over it was time to focus on some important athletic events in the family. Kaleb was in his school's jog a thon this year and although I don't know if we have a future distance runner on our hands we're proud of him for running/jogging/walking the whole 25 minutes. He jogged a little over 1.5 miles and now wants to jog everyday so he can improve next year!

Summer is Over

It's been a long busy summer but we had a blast!

We got to spend a lot of time with Kaleb and filled the summer with lots of fun activities.

We took full advantage of swimming, parks, and story times.

The three of us had a great summer but now it's time to head back to reality.

Kaleb has now started Kindergarten.

I can't believe he has gotten so big. His teacher seems nice and we are hoping this is a great year for him.

He is the youngest, tallest, and by far the loudest in his class.

He'll certainly leave an impression on his class!

First Day of school!

Kaleb turned five last Friday and we celebrated with family and friends.

It was Transformer themed and as usual Kaleb cleaned up. He has such generous friends and family who truly love and care for him.

Another exciting part of the summer was the birth of Riley! Here is the happy family!

We are so lucky to have this family in our life and to have an adorable sweet godchild!

I know Erin will raise that boy a good Catholic :)

Kenny starts school in a couple of weeks and we're praying for another successful semester.

These classes will be tough but luckily he is a smart guy!

Spring is Here!

The weather is finally warm and we are loving every minute of it!

Kaleb always enjoys having more time outdoors and he is already looking forward to swimming in the summer.

We had a very fun and busy Easter weekend.

We prepared for the Easter Bunny by making lots of sweets and dying eggs. Kaleb had a blast decorating eggs and cupcakes and just as much fun eating them!

Kaleb is into a Transformers phase and happily received a couple of new bots to add to his collection.

We had a delicious Easter breakfast with Karen before heading to Mom and Dads for Easter lunch.

It was a great day with lots of food and lounging.

After all the family festivities it was time to head to Audrey's 2nd Birthday!

Another year another birthday. Although I am not thrilled about being another year older this year was a really great birthday.

I got some great gifts this year. I love my new Coach bag from Kenny but the cutest gift has to be the pink ballerina barbie from Kaleb. Yes, he believes all girls want Barbie's so that is the gift he gave me.

We celebrated with dinner Saturday night at El Guapos. I love my Mexican food!

Thanks to my friends and sisters for coming out!

We also had Spring Break so my working was minimal which I will never complain about.

Spent most of the week making crafts and eating.

Really it's been pretty low key around here. Just enjoying the warmer weather and March Madness.

We've got a visit from the Hicks to look forward to and then we're off to Norman to see Erin & Jons new house!

Time to Start Sacrificing

Well today is Ash Wednesday and it's that time of the year when we have to figure out what we are going to give up in an attempt to be closer to God. Most people do something food related. This isn't going to work for me since:

1. Kenny and I have cut most of the garbage out of our daily diet and

2. I don't really see how this helps me with my relationship with God.

So instead of giving something up this year I have decided to start doing some things that will hopefully make me a better person and Christian.

Since I'm a sucker for kids doing Catholic stuff here is a picture of Kaleb and me rocking the ashes.

Kenny,Kaleb and I finally went to Dallas a couple of weeks ago and got to meet baby Carson.

She of course is adorable and also a very good baby. She was very sweet and Kaleb adored her.

It was great to spend the weekend in Dallas and Kaleb was happy to spend the day with Uncle Michael while Kenny and I went shopping.

We spent Valentines night with all the Stone/Hicks family enjoying some yummy Mexican food.

This past weekend we celebrated my parents 27th wedding anniversary. It was a fun night spent eating and playing with the Wii Fit we all got our parents.

Once again our Dad proved he will probably always be in better shape than us.

It was a great night and I am lucky to have some great parents who have shown me a great path for a happy and successful marriage. I hope to stay as happy as they are.

Ice Ice Baby

It's been another couple of busy but fun weeks here.

Kenny is back to school and it looks like he'll have a lot of work to do this semester.

Apparently grad school is difficult!

Luckily the weekends can provide some distraction from the work/school cycle.

A week ago it was good ol' buddy Jason's 27th birthday. This is 10 years of Goins and I celebrating our birthdays together so that makes me feel really old!

As always it was a good time with Mr. Goins and I've been lucky to have him as a friend/pseudo boyfriend/bodyguard since high school.

The following week Tulsa received a fun ice storm that had school cancelled for 3 days. That means 3 days cooped up indoors with Kaleb. Although he loves being out of school he tends to have too much energy for extended periods inside.

When this happens he gets creative...like layering lots of clothes and playing super hero.

Thankfully the ice finally started melting and we were able to return to normal life.

Maybe next year Oklahoma can receive some snow instead of ice...

This following weekend was a fun yet slightly sad weekend. My good friend Lauren came for a visit from Norman before she moves away to Houston. Lauren and I have had many good times and I am sad to see her move but know she will have lots of success in Houston. Hopefully we'll have many good times in Houston in the future!

We finished up the weekend checking out Taken (eh..ok) and of course the SuperBowl.

I was rooting for old man Warner but at least the Steelers winning makes my buddy Obadiah happy.

In a couple of weeks we will be heading to Dallas to visit Shelley and her new baby!

I will take lots of pictures of the cute little girl!

Back to the Grind...

We are reluctantly trying to get back into a good routine here at the Stone household.

The Holiday break has spoiled us all and getting back on track is proving hard for a certain member of the family. Kaleb has decided that 8 A.M is just too early to get up.

This is after about half an hour of trying to get him out of bed and ready for school. He gets his love of the morning from his father.

The rough times back were not helped at all by our dear Sooners. After another disappointing bowl game we all had to return to work and listen to the taunting of OSU fans (didn't they lose their bowl game too?) and oddly enough Gator fans. Seriously; some how I work with two Alum's. What are the odds?

Luckily Leslie came over to watch the game and brought her adorable daughter Audrey.

She entertained Kaleb and I through the trauma of the game.

Friday was Terri's 22nd Birthday! Several us went out to dinner at Abuelo's and enjoyed some Mexican food with the Birthday girl.

Our fun loving sis then hit up the karaoke and belted out some awesome Garth Brook's tunes.

Nothing beats a karaoke version of "Friends in Low Places".

We finished up are 24 hours without Kaleb by seeing Gran Torino. It was amazing. It was definitely full of racist terms (most that I had never heard before) but Eastwood's performance was very sincere and I would recommend checking it out.

The rest of our weekend was a quite one with Kaleb and the Play-offs.

This week we're anxiously awaiting the arrival of Carson Hicks!

Any day now and Kenny and I will finally be an aunt and uncle!

So those who know Shelley and Jason say a prayer for a quick and easy delivery.

...And a Happy New Year

Well it has been a very busy month at the Stone Household.

As our first Holiday season as a settled family we took advantage and filled all possible moments of freedom with lots of seasonal activities.

My parents hosted a Christmas party the weekend before Christmas which was a lot of fun and left us with a Hot Cocoa set and a bottle of wine courtesy of Dirty Santa.

Mostly I ate which as been a reoccurring theme this Holiday season.

My waist line will appreciate the New Year and lack of celebrations.

Christmas was great. Kaleb had a blast and it's always nice to see Christmas through a child's eyes.

As expected he got more than any child needs (and our space accomadates) but he got some really neat stuff.

Christmas night we hosted a small get together to have a Dirty Santa game of our own.

Booze only.

It was a lot of fun and it's not often you can unwrap a pony keg.

We were very happy to see our friend's; particularly Ajay who we only get to see about once a year.

It was a nice relaxing night and a perfect way to end Christmas.

Of course 3 day's after Christmas we have Mr. Stones birthday. The Big 28.

It was a pretty low key affair that took up 4 days. He likes to stretch these birthday celebrations out :)

Thanks to everyone who came out to Fox and Hound to celebrate with us!

On his actual Birthday Sunday we went to a great Sushi restaurant. Seeing several bratty children there made us appreciate Kaleb all the more. Sometimes his high energy can be stressful but seeing children who truly misbehave in public puts everything in perspective.

To end Kenny's Birthday celebrations his mom to took us to Copeland's for dinner. The food was fantastic and it was good to spend time with her and John.

As much fun as the Holiday's have been I am ready for the New Year.

We have many exciting things to look forward to in 2009 starting with the birth of our first niece in January!

We couldn't be more excited for Jason & Shelley and can't wait to meet Carson!
